I just bought a tray of eggs. Have been wondering for quite a while now if EGGS are fake nowadays. Man made if you would call it. They don't taste like eggs like they used to be. I really wonder why. And they don't taste nice and what more spoil easily. I've tried keeping one outside for months, I think. I accidentally broke it and expected it to smell real bad but surprisingly no foul smell. The egg got a bit dry inside that's all.
What really do the chickens eat nowadays. They are like machines producing eggs. So they claim chickens are fed with DHA. How much DHA really....
How do you get the DHA into the eggs?
Eggs are a natural source of ALA and DHA but not EPA significantly. We increase the DHA Omega 3 by simply supplementing the hens’ food with DHA micro rich algae. This patented technology involves growing algae, naturally found in the cold North Atlantic waters, in stainless steel tanks to prevent any contamination from pollution. The algae is then dried and fed to the hens. Each hen receives approximately 220mg of DHA of which 150 is deposited in the egg.
Some producers use fish oil, which may increase the EPA, but generally this method cannot produce an egg over 150mg of DHA without affecting the taste profile.
So they claim. But really the eggs don't taste like eggs.
I have seen photos of coop of hens called battery hens. Just look for yourself. Pity...
Try buying free range chicken eggs. (Kampung Chicken) cost more but well worth it in my opinion.
